Welcome to EMPC
- Details
The Eastern Missouri Pavement Consortium (EMPC) is a cooperative effort of public works organizations in the St. Louis Metro area. The EMPC goal is to propose standardized material specifications for durable concrete on public works projects to members and to simplify the approval process with the assistance of this web site. This concrete alternative focuses on Life-Cycle costs rather than first costs.
Some highlights of the proposed specifications include requirements for aggregate, cement, and mix proportions, which are intended to improve the durability of concrete. Click the EMPC Specification button for a full text display. This is a culmination of over three years of research by municipalities to discover and prevent the causes of premature cracking and deterioration of pavement, sidewalks, curbs, and storm drainage inlets.
Click on the EMPC Members button to view the current list of members. As a member, you may click the Concrete Mix Design button for a list of approved concrete mixes by St. Louis Metro concrete suppliers. This is detailed proprietary information on concrete mixes and is available only to EMPCB Members in the secure area requiring the use of a password. This web site provides a current database for quick reference of mixes and assists field inspectors with verification guidelines for EMPC concrete delivered to a project site.
EMPC is a general purpose concrete. Always check the job specific specifications. The design consultant should provide a mix design for this application.
